Turning Red is a new Pixar film coming to theaters and Disney+ in spring 2022

Turning Red

Pixar is back in action! Pixar’s latest animated movie is Turning Red. The film is directed by Canadian Domee Shi, who also created Bao, a Pixar short film released in 2018.

Following the release of Bao in 2018, Disney and Pixar have announced that its director, Domee Shi, will direct the new film Turning Red. It is coming to theaters around the world in early 2022.

Domee Shi declared that Bao was an incredible success in Pixar’s recent history and the film industry because it was the first of 35 Pixar short films directed by a woman. Now she is getting her chance to make her mark with a full-length animated film.

Rosalie Chiang, a young actress, lends her voice to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl who regrettably transforms into a giant red panda whenever she becomes overly emotional. From what we see in the teaser trailer, that seems to almost always be the case.

Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (Director, Killing Eve) plays Ming, Mei Lee’s overprotective and somewhat authoritarian tiger mother. She is never far from her daughter, which is a sad reality for the adolescent.

Turning Red‘s story begins in Toronto, Canada in the early 2000s, as evidenced by letters from Easter eggs in the official advance.

Turning Red releases in theaters on March 11, 2022. This new film will also be available on the Disney+ streaming platform, where fans can find several similar titles such as Luca, Pixar’s most recent Disney+ release that has received widespread acclaim.
