Illinois reports 1,701 new COVID-19 cases, 58 deaths in two days

The state of Illinois has reported more than 1,700 new cases of coronavirus over the past two days.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 986 new cases of coronavirus disease and 42 additional deaths on Wednesday. 715 new cases of COVID-19 and 16 additional deaths were reported on Thursday.
As of Wednesday, Massac and Vermilion counties are now reporting cases. Logan, Macoupin, Mercer, Moultrie, and Piatt counties are reporting cases as of Thursday afternoon.
Currently, Illinois is reporting a total of 7,695 cases in 61 counties. There have been 157 deaths. The age of cases has ranged from younger than one to older than 100 years.
