Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, Granville Red Line stations open next three weekends

Three North Side Red Line stations have been closed for construction the past few weekends. However, CTA travelers will get a reprieve.
For the past several weeks, the Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, and Granville Red Line stations have been closed beginning Friday night through Monday mornings. But the CTA will not close the stations this weekend or for the following two weekends on March 6-8 and March 13-15.
“Please use this opportunity to support a business on one of these blocks that you might have skipped in recent weekends due to taking the Broadway shuttle bus instead of the Red Line,” Alderman Harry Osterman’s office said in its weekly newsletter.
The closures have been necessary in preparation for the CTA Red-Purple Line Modernization project. The project will impact CTA riders between Uptown and Edgewater. Other work taking place in 2020 will include the construction of temporary stations at Bryn Mawr and Argyle.
The weekend work is expected to resume in the second half of March.
